Synopsis

The book is written keeping in mind students and all those who are interested in ancient social history topics. Since this is too extensive a subject-matter for a single book, the focus is kept on the family and social structure of the Liburni.
In Chapter I the readers are introduced to the people of Liburni, where recent knowledge about their territory and life is briefly presented. In order to avoid excessive accumulation of literature and footnotes, only the latest relevant references are cited, which, however, contain older references; of course, when necessary, older seminal works are also cited.
Texts in Chapters II and III, which are transferred from other publications, are kept mostly in the form in which they were printed, and their original pagination is shown; however, occasionally changes were made in the graphic layout (such as in the charts that are printed here in color, although they were black and white in the original publication) or certain additions and/or corrections were introduced that the author deemed necessary because of the new insights that were published in the meantime. Also, the system of writing the footnotes is made uniform in the book, which changes the appearance of the footnotes of some earlier works, but not their content.
