The quality management of the education system is, among other factors, dependent on the leadership of educational institutions. As part of the project "Principal: Profession and Qualification, Not Just a Function," co-financed by the European Social Fund, a team of academics and experts conducted study visits to explore various models of leadership and management in educational institutions and to identify strategies for enhancing leadership and management quality.

This book includes translations of scholarly papers by experts specializing in the quality management of educational institutions in their respective countries or in the locations visited by the research team—London (United Kingdom), Tampere (Finland), Vienna (Austria), and Berlin (Germany).
