This paper discusses the relevant approaches used in research entrepreneurial competencies among young people. In addition, beside the review of the theoretical foundations of the concept of entrepreneurial competencies, the propose is to present conceptual and methodological solutions that follow the design of research instruments and empirical testing of the development of entrepreneurial competence of students and pupils. This article provides an overview of the questionnaires and assessment scales whose application led to a change of approach in researching entrepreneurial competences of young people. The analysis of the proposed papers suggests some theoretical and methodological issues that may be useful to guide in future research. Finally, in the context of pedagogical research, necessary for the evaluation of education for entrepreneurship, the approaches based on a survey of attitudes towards entrepreneurship are considered most appropriate to improve the pedagogical theories and pedagogical practices.
