In the parish church of the martyr saints Cancius, Cancianus, and Cancianilla in Istrian Lanišće, there is a chasuble made of telette d’argento and lace, datable to the end of the third quarter of the 17th century. The coat-of-arms of Cardinal Pietro Basadonna (Venice, 1617 – Rome, 1684) is sewn in the middle of the chasuble back. It was very likely part of a ceremonial set produced in Venice shortly after 1673, when Pietro Basadonna was proclaimed a cardinal. The basic decoration of the chasuble is made of three different bobbin laces wrought in gilded filé threads sewn to the background silk fabric.Downloads
