„All of them just Yugoslavs“ – German stereotypes about Bosnians, Croats and Serbs
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.15291/gem.2871Abstract
This study examines which stereotypes are ascribed to Bosnians, Croatsand Serbs by Germans. More than 1,800 Germans with an average
age of 25.5 years took part in the survey. The survey was based on a
stereotype check list with 140 items that Baur and Ossenberg had already
tested with Russians and Turks. The results show that Germans
see only minor differences between the three ethnic groups from former
Yugoslavia. The authors therefore focus on and interpret these differences
and argue that qualitative data should also be used to interpret
these stereotypes.
