Abstract

In the paper the author discusses some new facts about the Republic of Croatia, which appeared again as an independent state on the international scene after more than eight hundred years. It caused some new relations on the Adriatic Sea as well as in the Mediterranean zone. Occupying a great deal of long East Adriatic Sea coast with plenty of virgin but strategically important islands, Croatia, after the war events (1991-1995), can develop relevant economic activity. Tourism, shipbuilding, mariculture, fishery and shipping, enable Croatia to incorporate more and more into well developed countries of West European and Mediterranean. Some sea border defining problems, should obviously be solved by the strict application of international sea law orders as soon as possible.
