Od statističke bibliografije do bibliometrije
povijest razvoja kvantitativnog pristupa istraživanju pisane riječi

Cilj je rada dati pregled povijesnog razvoja i glavnih koncepata bibliometrije kao područja usmjerenog prema kvantitativnom istraživanju pisane komunikacije koje danas primjenjuje suvremene metode i tehnike visokog stupnja statističke i matematičke formalizacije.
Statistički i ostali kvantitativni koncepti, modeli i metode tijekom posljednjih desetljeća poprimaju sve veću važnost i pobuđuju interes istraživača iz različitih disciplina u području društvenih i humanističkih znanosti koji u proučavanju različitih fenomena iz vlastitog djelokruga sve češće traže rješenje u primjeni nomotetičkih postupaka usmjerenih prema traženju općih principa iz ideografski pojedinačnih slučajeva. S vremenom su se unutar različitih znanstvenih polja razvile zasebne poddiscipline koje pokušavaju znanstvenim metodama kvantificirati i izmjeriti različite varijable (ne) materijalnog svijeta, od kvantifikacije mentalnih aktivnosti u sklopu psihometrije, interpersonalnih osjećaja i odnosa u sociometriji, empirijskog dokazivanja ekonomskih zakonitosti u ekonometriji te primjene ekonomskih teorija i tehnika u istraživanju društvene i ekonomske povijesti u kliometriji, pa do kvantitativnog proučavanja skupova bibliografskih zapisa ljudskog stvaralaštva u okviru bibliometrije.
Istraživanje utjecaja bibliografije i historiometrije na oblikovanje suvremenih bibliometrijskih metoda i tehnika te sustavan kronološki prikaz povijesnog razvoja i sociokognitivne institucionalizacije bibliometrije u drugoj polovici 20. stoljeća značajan su doprinos ovoga rada aktualnim raspravama o teoriji i praksi područja usmjerenog prema primjeni kvantitativnih metoda u istraživanju pisane (znanstvene) komunikacije.
