Sažetak

Cilj. U radu se predstavljaju rezultati istraživanja čiji je osnovni cilj bio ispitati koliko skrbnici osoba s demencijom u Hrvatskoj znaju o toj bolesti te utvrditi njihove informacijske
potrebe i načine na koje dolaze do informacija.

Metodologija. U istraživanju, koje je provedeno u razdoblju od rujna do studenog 2023. godine, sudjelovala su 53 ispitanika. Ispitanici su bile osobe koje skrbe o osobama s demencijom. Podaci su prikupljeni online upitnikom (metoda snježne grude) koji se s ispitanicima podijelio na Facebook stranici Demencija.net.

Rezultati. Ispitanici smatraju da skrbnici osoba s demencijom nemaju odgovarajuću podršku u društvu te su svjesni svojeg manjkavog znanja o demenciji. Najveći broj ispitanika treba informacije vezane uz prava osoba s demencijom i njihovih obitelji i načinima kako ih ostvariti. Najčešće potrebne informacije pronalaze na internetu i u razgovoru s drugim skrbnicima. Gotovo polovica ispitanika potrebne je informacije o demenciji barem jedanput potražila u svojoj lokalnoj narodnoj knjižnici, a više od polovice smatra ih da osobe koje se brinu o svojim članovima obitelji s demencijom u Hrvatskoj ne mogu lako doći do potrebnih informacija.

Praktična primjena. Budući da skrbnici osoba s demencijom u Hrvatskoj ne znaju kome se obratiti sa svojim brojnim upitima te su zbog nedostatka odgovarajućeg sustava informiranja usmjereni na neformalne izvore informacijske podrške, ovo bi istraživanje moglo poslužiti kao poticaj narodnim knjižnicama za nabavu građe o demenciji koja bi odgovarala na njihove prepoznate informacijske potrebe.

Društveni značaj. Kroz nabavu građe posvećene demenciji (beletristika, slikovnice) za opću populaciju knjižnice mogu pridonijeti senzibilizaciji javnosti o ovoj bolesti i uklanjanju diskriminacije ove skupine u zajednici.

Originalnost. Rad donosi rezultate jednog od rijetkih istraživanja posvećenih informacijskim potrebama skrbnika osoba s demencijom te predstavlja značajan doprinos boljem razumijevanju navedene tematike.
