Since foreign language learners learn languages to be useful in their lives, teaching should focus on practical language skills. The aim of the paper is to present practical and interactive activities as an effective way of learning a foreign language that can significantly improve language skills. The first part of the paper aims to provide insight into interactive learning and teaching and highlight the various advantages of such an approach, such as creativity and motivation, sociocultural context and contextualization of the foreign language. The second part describes culinary workshops as an example of interactive learning in foreign language teaching, which aims to show how this type of teaching can be organized in specific circumstances and what results can be achieved. The advantages are multiple, given that the following areas are covered: cognitive (knowledge, cognition), affective (attitudes, interests, motivation) and psychomotor (physical activities and skills). In addition to the acquisition of auditory and speech-language skills, the result of interaction and collaborative learning is also the development of intercultural and social competence.
