The second half of the 20th century has been characterised by a very turbulent and rough historical background of Lika. One of the areas that was especially damaged is the area of Lovinac’s county. Tragic events as well as painful human destinies caused by the Second World war have been a part of the negative social and economic starting points of re-development of the community. In Lovinac and its surrounding there has not been needed economic nor any planned development; on the contrary, those times were characterised by the weak industrial production, low agricultural profit and significant and permanent depopulation. As a part of then Gračac’s county, Lovinac has been strucked by another plight – the Homeland War.
