MemorabiLika, an interdisciplinary scientific journal established in 2018, publishes papers on the Lika region's history, culture, language, literature, and geography. It is intended for scientists, researchers, and professionals engaged in local history, literature, culture, and ethnography, as well as readers interested in the Lika region issues.
MemorabiLika is an annual serial publication available in print and electronic form. It welcomes various submissions, including scientific papers, archival materials, finding aids, literature reviews, conference proceedings, and any contributions that shed light on the Lika region's history, geography, and culture.
The journal operates in accordance with fundamental ethical principles and standards of scientific and professional work. These principles are implemented through publicly available information, open access publishing, double-anonymous peer review, clear terms of use for intellectual property, and a steadfast commitment to the authenticity of manuscripts and the prevention of plagiarism. The responsibilities of authors, editors, and reviewers are based on the COPE guidelines (https://publicationethics.org).
To ensure adherence to best practices, editors and reviewers participate in continuous education regarding the latest guidelines, recommendations, and examples of excellence in the peer review process and journal management. Furthermore, the editorial board systematically follows current research in the field of scientific publishing to remain informed about the evolving standards of the global research community.
Editorial Policy
Authors should carefully read the author guidelines before submitting a manuscript. The editorial board makes impartial and objective decisions regarding accepting submitted manuscripts and alerts authors to relevant copyright laws. The editorial board ensures confidentiality and qualified peer review of all published content. Reviewers' feedback is fair, constructive, clear, and provided promptly to authors.
Reviews
The journal only accepts unpublished manuscripts. Each submitted manuscript is evaluated based on criteria of originality and quality of scientific and professional content. Suppose a reviewer feels unqualified to assess the manuscript due to a lack of expertise or cannot complete the review promptly. In that case, they are obligated to inform the editorial board and withdraw from the review process. Manuscripts undergo authenticity checking to ensure the originality of the research presented. Before publication, they are sent to a proofreader for final editing to correct spelling and grammar errors and to resolve ambiguities and inconsistencies. Any inaccuracies and questions arising during this editing stage are resolved in collaboration with the author. The final version of the manuscript is then sent to the author for verification and approval.
Confidentiality
The editorial board treats all submitted manuscripts with strict confidentiality. Except for reviewers directly involved in the evaluation process, the board does not disclose confidential
information to third parties. This policy applies unless there are well-founded suspicions of misconduct. Reviewers must also handle manuscripts confidentially and not use them without authorization. The editorial board takes all necessary steps to protect reviewer's identity.
Copyright and Licensing
The published manuscript can be used, distributed, and reproduced in any lawful medium, provided proper attribution is given by the CC BY 4.0 license. Copyright to the published manuscript remains with the authors or copyright holders. The published content is then made freely available for commercial use by third parties, provided they maintain its integrity and acknowledge the original authors, citation details, and publisher. Individual users may access, download, copy, display, adapt, and translate the manuscript, ensuring that the authors' intellectual and moral rights, reputation, and integrity are not compromised.
Ethical Guidelines and Conflict of Interest
It is essential to avoid any conflicts of interest, whether financial, academic, family, or otherwise, within the relations involving editors, editorial board, reviewers, and authors. All authors are required to submit a signed statement confirming their authorship and responsibility for the manuscript. Before agreeing to review a manuscript, reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts, including collaborations, involvement with the manuscript, personal disputes, financial ties, or any non-financial concerns that could influence their judgment. If editorial board members submit manuscripts as authors, reviewers are carefully selected to mitigate potential bias during the review process.
The editorial board's decisions regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection are based solely on its significance, originality, clarity, validity of research, and relevance to the journal's field. These decisions are made without regard to the author's gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, nationality, citizenship, political views, or similar factors.
Unpublished materials disclosed within a submitted manuscript must not be used for the editors' or reviewers' research without obtaining the author's prior written consent.
Misconduct in Manuscript Submission
Authors are solely responsible for the originality and content of their manuscripts. They guarantee that the work is their own and that all sources are referenced correctly. Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals constitutes unethical conduct and is strictly prohibited. Editors will take appropriate action upon suspicion or notification of scientific misconduct by authors or reviewers, regardless of whether the work is published or not.
