Author Guidelines

About the Journal

Oeconomica Jadertina is a scientific journal published continuously since 2011 by the Department of Economics of the University of Zadar. It covers the fields of economics and management, as well as other related disciplines. The journal is primarily intended for the publication of scientific papers by early-career scholars and researchers, while also publishing contributions by established academics. It particularly encourages a multidisciplinary approach.

The journal’s publishing policy is focused on following the latest developments, scientific findings, and trends, with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of the emerging paradigm of the transition economy, or the New Economy. Local, national, and global topics falling within the journal’s scope are given equal consideration. Papers are published in Croatian and English.

The journal is indexed and abstracted in the following databases and search engines: ERIH+, Google Scholar, DOAJ, EBSCO, and Hrčak.

The journal publishes papers that undergo at least two double-anonymous peer reviews and are classified into the following categories:

a) Original scientific paper – an original scientific work presenting new results of fundamental or applied research.
b) Preliminary communication – a scientific paper containing one or more original scientific findings but without sufficient detail to enable readers to verify the reported results.
c) Review paper – a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge on a particular topic based on the analysis of the existing literature, with the aim of explaining the current understanding of the subject.
d) Professional paper – a paper presenting useful findings and experience from professional practice and demonstrating the application of existing scientific and professional knowledge, methods, or models to solving practical problems. 

Open Access

Oeconomica Jadertina is an open access journal. All content published in the journal is freely available without charge to readers.
Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, adapt, transform, and build upon the published material, or use it for any other lawful purpose, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original source in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

Copyright

Authors publishing in Oeconomica Jadertina retain copyright and unrestricted publishing rights to their work. By submitting their manuscript, authors agree to the publication of their work under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

Publication Charges

There are no submission, peer review, or publication fees. Publication in Oeconomica Jadertina is free of charge for authors.

Manuscript Submission and Publication

Oeconomica Jadertina is published twice a year, in June and December. Manuscripts intended for publication in the June issue should be submitted no later than 1 May, while manuscripts for the December issue should be submitted no later than 1 November. The Editorial Office accepts manuscript submissions throughout the year.

Authors are encouraged to prepare their manuscripts using the Article template available on the journal's Hrčak webpage and the Morepress publishing platform https://hrcak.srce.hr/oeconomicajadertina  

Submission Requirements and Verification

Submission of a manuscript implies that it has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract, a published lecture, or an academic thesis), is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, has been approved by all authors and, where applicable, by the institution at which the research was conducted, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or any other language, including in electronic format.

Submission should include:
a)    The manuscipt
b)    Autorship Statement containing the full names (with underlined surnames) of all authors, their titles, and affiliations. The corresponding author should provide their signature, confirming that the manuscript or a part of it has not been accepted for publication, is not being considered for publication elsewhere, or has not been previously published (Declaration of Authorship).
c)    Additionally, include a Statement of Conflict of Interest if applicable.
d)    Permission to use images that were not created by the authors (if any)
e)    Additional documents

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts are initially evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief (and/or members of the Editorial Board). A manuscript may be rejected without external review if it is deemed to fall outside the scope of the journal, lacks the characteristics of a scientific paper, or does not meet the minimum standards of originality and scientific quality. 
Based on this initial assessment, the manuscript is either rejected or forwarded for peer review.
Prior to peer review, all manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software to verify originality and ensure the quality of scholarly writing. Only manuscripts with a similarity index below 20% are considered for further evaluation. Manuscripts showing substantial overlap with previously published work will be rejected without peer review.

Manuscripts suitable for publication undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. If one of the reviewers submits a negative recommendation, the manuscript may be sent to a third reviewer for an additional independent evaluation. The final decision on acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief. Once all reviews have been received, the Editor-in-Chief makes a decision regarding the manuscript. 
Review reports are forwarded to the authors through the Morepress system. If revisions are requested, authors are expected to submit a revised manuscript within the deadline specified by the system. Each revised submission must be accompanied by a detailed response letter addressing each reviewer comment individually.
If authorship changes (addition or removal of authors) occur during the revision process, the corresponding author must provide an explanation for the change, together with written consent from all authors, including those being added or removed. Authors added during the review process must also submit a completed and signed Authorship Statement. The revised manuscript is evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and/or the reviewers, after which the Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision. If necessary, additional revisions may be requested. Once accepted for publication, the manuscript is assigned a DOI, followed by language editing and proofreading.

Reviewers

Authors are required to suggest at least two potential reviewers who are qualified to evaluate the manuscript. Reviewer suggestions are not binding on the Editorial Board. For each proposed reviewer, authors must provide the reviewer's name, e-mail address, and a brief explanation of why the reviewer is considered suitable.
Reviewer suggestions are submitted through the Morepress system during manuscript submission. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the information provided. Submission of incorrect or misleading reviewer information may result in rejection of the manuscript.
Authors may also identify reviewers who should not be invited due to potential conflicts of interest, such as professional or family relationships that could compromise the impartiality of the review process.

Authorship and Changes in Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study, data collection, analysis or interpretation of data, manuscript preparation or critical revision, and who have approved the final version of the manuscript.
Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section and should not be listed as authors.
All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission to Oeconomica Jadertina. By signing the cover letter, the corresponding author confirms on behalf of all co-authors that the information provided is complete, accurate, and truthful.
Authors are expected to carefully determine the list and order of authors before the initial submission. Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors must be requested before acceptance of the manuscript and requires the approval of the Editor-in-Chief. Requests for authorship changes must include: (a) an explanation for the proposed change, and (b) written consent (e-mail or signed statement) from all authors, including any author being added or removed. Only in exceptional circumstances will changes in authorship be considered after a manuscript has been accepted. During the evaluation of such a request, publication of the manuscript will be suspended.

Personal Data Protection

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the journal collects personal data relating to authors, reviewers, and editors, including names, titles, contact information, and fields of professional expertise. These data are used exclusively for editorial and publishing purposes, including the selection of appropriate reviewers, communication with authors and reviewers, and publication of author information in accepted articles. Personal data not included in the published article or acknowledgements will not be disclosed to third parties.
Personal data will be retained until consent is withdrawn or deletion is requested by the author, reviewer, or editor.

Retraction of Published Articles

If authors identify a significant error in a published article that affects the reproducibility of the research or the validity of the reported results, they may request retraction of the article. The online version of the article will remain available but will be clearly marked "Retracted by Authors." If editors, reviewers, or readers identify evidence of research misconduct, fabricated data, plagiarism, or other serious breaches of publication ethics, the Editorial Board will investigate the case. If ethical misconduct is confirmed, the article will be retracted and clearly marked "Retracted by Editorial Board."

Funding

Authors are encouraged to disclose all sources of financial support received for the research presented in the manuscript. Examples are provided in the manuscript template.

Inclusive Language

The journal promotes the use of inclusive language that respects diversity, promotes equality, and avoids discriminatory or biased expressions. Manuscripts should not contain language implying superiority or inferiority based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, disability, health status, or any other personal characteristic.
Authors are encouraged to avoid unnecessary references to personal characteristics unless they are directly relevant to the research.

Corrections to Published Articles

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all published information. All corrections should be made before publication whenever possible. If a significant error is identified after publication, authors may submit an erratum, which will be published online in the next available issue.
Authors are requested to follow the journal's formatting and manuscript preparation guidelines carefully. Manuscripts that do not comply with the Instructions for Authors will not be sent for peer review until they have been revised accordingly.
Authors are solely responsible for the content, originality, accuracy, and ethical integrity of their manuscripts. No honoraria are paid for submitted manuscripts or peer reviews.
The Editorial Board, the Editor-in-Chief, the Executive Editor, and the Technical Editor reserve the right to make minor editorial, linguistic, and formatting changes to accepted manuscripts.
