There are three authors from Dubrovnik who deserve special attention in the evaluation of the reaches of old Croatian economic authors from 15th to 17th century. These are: Beno Kotruljević (15th cent.), N. V. Gučetić (the second hair of 16th cent, and the beginning of 17th cent.) and Stjepan Gradić (17th cent.), Their work manifests continuity of economic thought in Croatia in the course of those centuries. In the same lime several outstanding authors appeared in other parts of Croatia as welt: Matija Vlačić (1 fith cent.), Juraj Križanić (17th cent.) and Simun Grisogono (I6lh- 17th cent.). All of them worked in the era in which mercantilism dominated in European economic theory. It is important to lay emphasis upon fact that Croatian authors of mercantilist orientation were not in margins of the dominant theory of the epoch; moreover, they enriched the treasury of mercantilist analyses and syntheses. Kotruljević, Gučelić and Križanić are the authors who especially deserve such a positive evaluation. Since the author earlier wrote on several occasions about Kotruljević, Grisogono, etc., in this paper Gučelić is in the centre of his interest. It would he worth while to present and evaluate economic standpoints of other Croatian mercantilists, as for instance, Gradić, Vlnčić and Križanić. Since Stjepan Krasić already did such a research on Gradić, Mijo Mirković on Vlačić and the group of authors in the miscellany "Život i djelo Jurja Križanićn” on Križanić, there’s no need for this in the present paper. Thus this tu tide consists of three chapters: A) General View, B) N. V. Gučetić and C) Final Considerations.
