Abstract

Today's half-ruined church of Our Lady of the Castle or "of Mie Health" was built as a late renaissance rotonda in 1582. The apse was enlargeoted in 1692 and the vertical nave was built between 1700 and 1703. The baroque church tower was built by the engineers G. Binard and A. Benoni in 1705 and it harmonically fit into the existing structure. In the rotonda a valuable late baroque Inferior has been preserved and the tomb of Archbishop Zmajević (1670—1745). The church was renovated in 1897 and 1904. During the World War II the vertical nave was destroyed.
