Critical overview of the research and discoveries about the island of Pašman

Abstract

Three parts of the article present the critical overview of the present results of Croatian medieval studies in connection ito some problems about the island of Pašman and the author presents some new knowledge from yet unpublished manuscripts. In the section '‘Origin and development of toponyms on the island (and the village) of Pašman", the author presents his opinion about the origin and development of toponyms of Pašman from the ancient times to the present day supported by the new evidence from Zadar archives. In the section "Old settlements and places on Pašman" the author presents the chronological list of settlements of Pašman supporting his evidence with new facts. In the third section under the title "Other observations and warnings" the author offers some of his opinions from historical topography and social approaches to the early medieval Croatian history which might bear connection to the island of Pašman.
