Abstract

Pretorio on the road Iader-Arausona-Tragurium in the Antonine Itinerary is not identical to the road station Ad Pretorum on the road Iader-Scardona-Tragurium from the Tabula Peutingeriana. The former has not been located with certainty, but it is situated on the road which after passing Prokljan or Šibenik Bay continues through Donje Polje, Vrpolje, Boraja, Praputnica and it reaches Trogir passing by the Roman quarry at Siget. The latter station is in the valley of Grebaštica which contains numerous Roman positions that have not been investigated. It lies on the road which after crossing the river Krka  near Scardona, climbs along Milkovid valley, passes near Gradina, a couple of kilometers west from Rider (this is why it is not indicated in the Tabula) then close to Vrpoljc, through Grebaštica, towards the ruins Kremik and Stupin, passes Drid, not far from Marina, and finally to Trogir. Tile road Iader-Burnum from the Tabula Peulingcriana passes through Alveria, certainly not through Varvaria as the lacuna in the original used to be emended.
