Frum original archive sources and data from critically selected literature, the author attempts to reconstruct the destroyed manuscription on “Old Bakar nobility” (Armalia el insignia antique nobilitatis Buccarensis) by the local Bakar historian Matija Maîid. The integral text of Muiid’s manuscript is supplied from the copy by B. Zmajiti, containing biographical dula of twelve noble families oí Bakar. The coats of arms are reproduced partly from published herall.drics, from archive documents, original heraldries and private collections. The analysis of heraldic figures was pcrfomcd according to the principles accepted in Croatian hcruldics. A separate chapter outlines the noble families of Bakar that were not represented in the manuscript, with historical and cronological data and the categories of nobily titles.
