Abstract

The end ol 1943 and the beginning of 1944 undoubtedly marked the beginning of an important phase in the development of the Liberation. War and the revolution in Dalmatia. After the retreat of the members of the Parly anti the communist leadership before the powerful German forces, the question of the movement and the unification of the organizations of the National Liberation Movement came again into the first plan. In the compelex political situation. The League of Young Communists managed to overcome many obstacles an to gathei a great number of young people in Dalmatia and to form a political platform. Favorable conditions For the activities of the League of Young Communits and the organization ol the UKAOH influenced the growth and organizational consolidation of the Youth Revolutionary Movement. in the Spring of 1944 Special success was achieved in unmasking and supressing the conbrarevolutlonary activities of a small number of Chetniks and the reactionary members of the Croatian Peasant Parly. Youth from Dalmatia took part in numemus tasks in the Liberation Movement such as: food supplies for the army and other inhabitants, different activites in the background, activities in the National Liberation Committee, they took irart as members of national council, etc. The activities of the League of Young Communists and of Ihc USAOH were reorganized in order to gather and unify all young antifascists. A great number of young people joined the National Liberation Army of Yugoslavia.
The author especially analyzes the events in Split in 1944. on the basis of the archives sources. He stresses a series of specific events in the development of the Leagues of Young Communists and the youth organization, supporting his thesis with a number or data and descriptions of the most important actions.
