Abstract

Three water reservoirs, belonging lo the Roman bath complex, were found and documented during archaeological rescue excavnlions on ihe school athletic gymnasium building area. In this paper the author studies construction techniques of those reservoirs. It is impossible to deal with all the construction details due to earlier destruction and decomposition of Roman objects during medieval and later urban development, as well as to devastation of ruins on the occasions of modern construction works. While analysing die reservoirs, die author pays special attention to the execution of their foundations and floor- planes. In order to achieve impermeability, they were - as well ns the whole objects - soundly constructed, obeying technical and constructive meLhods commonly used in building of such objects.
