Human essence is marked by the use of the symbolic forms among which language is the most basic and mo-st essential. Symbolization is an a priori category. Et causes a numberless manifestations of symbolic froms which we find and create around ourselves. The ability to symbolize is basic for human knowledge and this knowledge is limited with the priciples of this ability. Burke stresses this processes are tied to our will which is purposeful. The forms are here so that human beings would be able to comprehend things that surround them and that them would be able to influence their course. Symbolic forms become meanings only if the processis creative, if it possesses the implication for an action in its incept on. It is stressed that the symbolic forms are related to the critical action which points up to the fact that man is the active creator of his knowledge. Forms are purposeful in this particular sense. Thus the symbolic forms and the content become one since every meaning is inseparable from the form in which it appears.
