Abstract

The paper reflects upon the non-fulure meanings of the perfective present tense. What is at stake is the non-actual use of this verbal form where futurity, as its basic (temporal) meaning, is not manifested at all or it becomes secondary and unessential to the statement. The article represents an attempt to reveal and explain, using concrete material, the so-called "hidden meanings" which find their expression through special aspectual-temporal (modal) means and relations.
