Matos’s patriotic poetry in the interpretative-analytic and problematic-creative system of the optional instruction (one of the possible methodical patterns)

Abstract

In the article the autor shows to what extent Matoš’s patriotic lyrical poetry can offer a convenient reading for the optional instruction in school and for the research into the poetry itself, in the context of the poet’s whole output and in the context of u literary tradition. By an Interpretative - analytic and problematic - creative procedure in dealing with Matoš's landscape poetry, travel books and the poem »Kod kuće« (>-At home*), Matoš's landscape - potriotic pnelrv is analyzed in the context of his symbolic poetics and his concept of landscape representing spiritual condition. This includes in itself Baudelaire’s, Rarres’s, Rimbaud’s and Verlaine’s dimension of the European symbolism in Matoš's work, whereas pH the level of the history of literature Matoš’s landscape poetry is studied both in the context of the landscape tradition of the 19th century Croatian literature and in the comparison between the patriotic tradition of the 19th century and A. G. Matoš.
