The historical backdrop of the Gorski Kotar dialectal state

Abstract

The article analyses data from the history of Gorski Kotar, especially the material which has shaped the contemporary state of its dialects. In this mariner the author explains today's profoundly differentiated dialect structure with very different kajkavian, čakavian and štokavian types of speech.
