After considering simple, соmрlех and double prepositions on a choice of examples from short-stories by a number of contemporary Macedonian writers (B. Varošlija, B. Ivanov, B. Pavlovski, M. Nedelkoski, Ž. Čingo and others) and from the Macedonian translation of the New Testament, the article undertakes to provide an answer to the query raised by its title: is it common or, on the contrary, is it rare in the contemporary Macedonian language to use double prepositions? Special care is taken to distinguish between соmрlех and double prepositions which are oftentimes thought of as identical, although this is in no way the case. The author concludes that this syntactic phenomenon (present in contemporary Macedonian but not so frequently to be thought common and not so гагеlу to be deemed rare, extraordinary) should be always used whenever the possibility exists to do so, because the statements in which it appears become precise, comprehensive and sonorous in the spirit of the Macedonian language.
