In this paper the author treats the reception of Byron in the texts written by the members of the Illyrian Movement. In fact, these texts are short notes or only reminiscences on Byron and his work. Although they are not numerous, they are the reflection of byronic euphoria present in European literature during the 18twenties and 18thirties. The analysis of these texts leads to the conclusion that in the Croatian cultural consciousness of the period (1835-1850), Byron functions not so much as an aesthetic criterion or a criterion for literary value but as a typological correlative and a criterion for the literary culture of the Croatian revivalists.References
