Abstract

Having mentioned the basic principles of linguistic statistics and the well- known word-frequency analyses this paper goes on describing the results of the word-frequency analysis of English in electronics. It pays a special attention to the data obtained from the frequency list concerning the distribution of the frequencies within the corpus, the rank and cumulative frequencies and the relation between grammatical and lexical words. Those data have been compared to the ones provided by similar analyses of the so-called "Brown Corpus" and “A Word-Frequency List of Scientific English". Some regularities oT linguistic statistics have been re-examined as well.
