Abstract

The poet Jovan Vesel Koseski (1798-1884) was not very popular with the Slovenes, and unjustly so, because as an “objective“ poet he was contrasted with the “subjective“ France Preseren. But Koseski wrote some good lines and verses, and especially in the 1840's he was among the best Slovenian translators of the German poet and playwright Friedrich Schiller. The aim of this work is to show a few good poetic translations of Schiller from Koseski's pen.
