Ideology and the reform of education

Abstract

This article deals with some problems of education and ideology. Two aspects of the problem are discussed: 1) European context and its social, economic and cultural development, 2) specific social and political conditions of Yugoslav society in its post-revolutionary period. Analysing the official initiative for the so-called »socialistic transformation of education, based on self-management«, the author claims that the ruling political structure, with its ideological barriers, is not capable of getting into the essence of that problem, and they do not offera satysfying solution which might improve productive changes of the whole system of education. The author confirms that those changes should be carried out on the basist of progressive European experience with respect to actual position of social development and above all it should be done according to the demands of modern informatics and technology.
