The sensation seeking dimesion Zuckerman defined as intentional part- taking and seeking of different, new and complex situations regardless of possible physical and/or social risks, only because of the sensation itself.
The investigation of the biochemical correlates of this dmiension have caused the change of the aminergic hypothesis. A new hypothesis was put forward which explains individual differences in the sensation seeking dimension on the basis of individual differences in the tonus level and the catecholamne system activity.
