The essay introduces some characteristics and principles of intercultural communication, highlighting the paradigm shift it implies. Furthermore, the study considers one of the aims of literary education, namely, to foster the knowledge of the self and the world and, in turn, facilitate psychological and conceptual growth. Finally, it offers an analysis of Luigi Pirandello’s Uno, nessuno e centomila ("One, No One and a Hundred Thousand"), to draw a connection between literary education and intercultural behavior abilities (as a part of the intercultural communicative competence).
