The paper deals with the destiny of some Čakavian lexemes in the modern Čakavian vernaculars of Murter, Žirje, Zlarin, Vrgada and Sali on the island of Dugi otok.Turbulent history and the exposure to some foreign influences made many čakavisms disappear. Due to a complete change in the lifestyle as well as the influence of the media, the process of the repression and disappearance of authentic Čakavian words, especially from live speech, is continuing.Downloads
