Abstract

Although Kruno Quien’s poetic opus is not very big it is nevertheless very interesting and, since it has not been much discussed within Croatian literary theory, this paper will attempt to highlight its main poetic and stylistic features. As Quien’s poetry is at the same time thematically homogeneous and linguistically diverse, the analysis of syntagmatic and stylistic systems in Quien’s poetry could overcome the discrepancies of formal elements. Three systems describe Quien’s poetic expression: neo-baroque or postmodernism, surrealism and poetic ludism. By identifying the specific stylistic figures and methods which describe these systems, this paper aims to illustrate the richness of Quien’s poetic discourse.
