The paper deals with the educational position of the child in the family and society. The affirmation of the modern child as a social actor - a person with autonomous rights, has greatly contributed to the respectful approach of adults towards him. At the same time, defining the child as a subject who largely determines his life and development makes the educational role of the adult quite vague. The modern educator is often identified with the promoter of development. Social life characterized by the competitive coexistence of individuals in a competitive environment orients adults to persist in dominantly contributing to the child’s knowledge. Since such an approach is educationally insufficient, this work thematizes the pedagogical relationship observed in Fromm’s perspective. It refers to orientation to care, responsibility, respect and knowledge as the basic prerequisites for raising a self-confident, reliable, socially interested and empathetic child.
