Abstract

The work places the musical scale, with a particular emphasis on the Istrian scale, within Disoteo's strategy of an intercultural music education based on the primacy of traditional music. Traditional music is one of the bearers of the identity of an individual and of society. Maurizio Disoteo views intercultural music education, i.e. traditional music, through identity and a musical context of ˝memory˝, ˝encounters˝ and ˝changes˝. The author places the Istrian scale as a paradigm of Croatian native and traditional music in the contextual conception of intercultural education.
